Start Up One Stop

For Startups, By Startups

9/25/09

I need sleep. Or a clone.

First, I’d like to thank Murat Aktihanoglu (centrl.com) for inviting us to present Startup One Stop at his Entrepreneurs Roundtable Tuesday evening. We got a warm reception from both the entrepreneurs and investors in the room. Just the kinds of people we like to see on this list and I do not refer to
the royal “we”

Second that we lead into the queries now?

Motion carried.

Hi, All, and yes, I know it doesn’t officially begin until 5.18 pm, so I hope we’re all enjoying those last few hours of summer – and Advertising Week in NY, in case you’ve forgotten.

Speaking of current and upcoming events, I’d also like to invite you to register for the Bootstrapper Summit III (BSS), which will take place on October 1st 2009 in midtown, NYC. BSS is the most intimate Venture Capital conference in NYC, connecting promising companies with the top investors. Attendees have over $5 Billion in investment capital available.

BSS III keynote speakers are Robin Kent, former CEO of Universal McCann, a $16 Billion Media Agency & Nate Brochin, who has had 3 successful exits, creating $4 Billion in shareholder value.

Please register today at http://www.bootstrappersummit.com

But wait, there’s more! Bootstrapper is also looking for one more startup to present at the conference. Invited companies range from Seed through Series B as well as private equity. In order to be considered for an invitation to present, the startup must either have a completed product or management with a serious track record. If you are accepted to present, there will be a presentation fee, the amount of which depends on the stage of the company and the size of the proposed raise. So, again, go to http://www.bootstrappersummit.com. Hey, you never know, and I’m sure there are at least a few of you out there with startups that are looking for funding, so go for it!

Hi, All,

First, I want to thank you all for the feedback we’ve been
getting. People seem to really like the “I CAN HELP” section and believe
it or not, it seems you all would like those posters to talk MORE about who
you are and what you’re doing/offering.

Also, a number of you are joining and pointing me to your new startups, so we thought it might be a good idea if you share with the list. If you’d like. I’m not talking about shameless self-promotion. Maybe just run-of-the-mill self-promotion. Hey, this is about startups, so why not talk about what you¹re doing, if you can. Some of you are in alpha. Some in beta. But, hey, wherever you are at this point in time, we’d like you to feel free to talk about it and invite other list members to see what you¹re up to as well. So we’re starting a new section to the email blast called “Elevator Pitch”.  Since we’re among friend here hopefully helpful friends don’t simply tell us what you’re working on.
Tell us about your pain points; the challenges you’re facing and/or working
on overcoming; the successes you’ve enjoyed. Feel free to ask for advice
and/or solicit feedback.

Think of this as a trial run elevator pitch, and
you have to the top of the Empire State Building.

Well, ok, maybe just as
far as the 50th Floor.

Anyway, happy
Thursday!

Good morning, and I’m so happy that summer is back, at least for the next
couple of days. Look, Fall doesn’t officially start for at least another
week, so I’ll take all of the 80+ degree days I can get.

And congrats to
Murat, whose startup Centrl is covered on Techcrunch today. Story is here:

People, if you have a query, please post to the list
using the website. Some of you are calling me and while I LOVE talking to
you and catching up, post on the website, THEN call me and we’ll catch up.
I’ll even meet you for a coffee. I’m always up for coffee.

Hi, All, and welcome to our first edition of SOS.

First, I want to thank you for participating, and I really do hope this will be beneficial to everyone. Since we’re just getting started, we may not be sending out queries daily, but rather, when we have several of them to send so as not to inconvenience you.

We have some good queries and our list is divided into two parts.

First is the people who need help; second is people who are offering the community help.

It’s a diverse set of queries and remember to try to stay on topic if you’re responding to either. Off we go, and have a wonderful holiday weekend! See you next week.

Best,

Bonnie
