Good morning, All, and it was quite a turnout at the Tech Holiday party last night, which SOS co-hosted, and apologies to those who had to wait in the cold for a bit. We didn’t expect so large a turn out and we’ll find a larger venue next time. Officially on the list of New Year’s resolutions.

And speaking of resolutions, let’s try something a bit different next week. Yes, you’re still free to post what you need or can offer, but if you’d like to share a holiday greeting or New Year’s resolution, along with a few words about who you are, go for it.

For now, Santa – and help – are on the way, and have a safe and happy holiday! Read More...

And when did they start taking the rum out of fruitcake? I guess they figured no one really eats fruitcake any, so why waste the run, but it’s just not the same.

Well, the holidays are upon us and yes, it has slowed down out there – which is why we’re only doing a couple of posts. A lot of people are away, or leaving soon, and we’re doing this in all fairness to our posters. There’s a definitely correlation between the party schedule having picked up and work having slowed down. Basic math.

Speaking of parties, I said there’d be a holiday party and there is: the bootup/New York Technology Community holiday party is Monday evening – and SOS is actually one of the unofficial sponsors. I’m supposed to be one of the speakers, but I DON’T believe there’s enough tequila in the room for that to actually happen… Register at http://www.bootup.io/holiday-party Read More...

Bartender says, ‘so, why the long face?’

Oh, come on, nothing wrong with a joke every now and again. Especially one you haven’t heard since you were, what, 10? 7?

Good morning, All, and this time I’m giving you fair warning. December 21st is the bootup holiday party at Forum. Register at http://www.bootup.io/holiday-party, so if you’re in NYC or planning to visit for the holidays, should be fun. I’ll be there and willing to tell a joke or two that you wouldn’t want to share with a 7 year old. Well, maybe 10. Read More...

Ok, so I love the holidays.

Good morning, All, and congratulations to Jordan Stolper (who has a query below): gliider was covered in the Personal Tech section of Thursday’s New York Times: http://bit.ly/7BDMXD Must be nice.

Apologies to the non-New Yorkers on the list, but we had some snow on Saturday and I LOVE snow. Ok, it didn’t stick, if it makes you feel any better. Maybe next time. Read More...

…from me, actually, and good morning!

So, I have a startup, too. Besides StartupOneStop, I mean. It’s called xykast, and it’s a free online video phone/video conference platform that let’s you video conference one-to-one, or with up to 9 participants. I suggest using a headset, btw. Always best. It also allows you to store or share any kind of file – documents, videos, music. And we need alpha testers. It is cross platform, and I would appreciate it if you all – or some – would go to xykast.com, download it (small download and don’t forget to check the spam folder for the authentication email) start using it – and giving us some feedback. And thank you, as always.

And now, help is on the way… Read More...

Good morning, All, hope you had a good Thanksgiving and although December always seems to fly by, the year’s not over yet.

Again, we have a number of new members – and a lot of them entrepreneurs, so I would like to reiterate that elevator pitches are allowed and bring them on. We’d like to know what you’re all doing out there, and you’re in the right room for honest feedback.

In the meantime, help is on the way… Read More...
