Halloween. Sorry, just practicing.

Good morning, All, and don’t forget to save me the dark chocolates!

One of today’s postings comes from Clear Skies Security (clearskies.net), a
company I have hired in the past – and would happily do so again. Oh, wait,
I did use them again. These guys came very highly recommended and they did
not disappoint. Now, stop reading this and get back to work, Brad, we’re on
the clock here. Read More...

I’ll be – home.

Good morning, All, and congratulations to Steve Wilson, who had his book signing for Trust (The Photographs of Jim Marshall) last week and the store sold out of copies. I couldn’t make it – but did send Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones in my place.

OK, I didn’t send them. But I’m glad they made it, even if I couldn’t. And I heard from several (drooling) male members who did make there that pictures just do not do her justice. Read More...

Good morning, All,

Feels like it should be Friday – or could just be wishful thinking on my part. I know I mentioned perks last week. Coming soon, not to worry. As is New York Entrepreneur Week, November 16th – 20th. Visit http://www.nyew.org to register and hope to see you there.

In the meantime, help is on the way, and have a wonderful weekend, which will also be here before you know it! Read More...

Good morning, all and OK, its still October so I guess officially it’s just a bit nippy.

We have a lot of new members on the list a welcome to all of you and we did receive a LOT of posts this week. Apologies to those whose posts we couldn’t include in this newsletter, but we didn’t want to overwhelm everyone with dozens of queries. Instead, we’ll no doubt send out another email later this week.

One more thing: there were a few posts that came dangerously close to being considered MLM, and those just aren’t allowed here. Rules is rules! Read More...

Hi, All,

So, we are starting to hear from companies who will give special discounts on their services to SOS list members. Which I think is fabulous – every little bit helps, eh?

Speaking of perks literally did you know that Starbucks will refill your mug (well, THEIR mug) for 50 cents? Even days later. I did not know that, but figured I’d pass along the tip. Frankly, I’m an Aroma fan. Read More...

I hope you all enjoyed your Columbus Day! I believe it’s the only holiday till Thanksgiving which happens to be my favorite. Halloween doesn’t count. It’s not a real holiday.

Good morning, all, and I’d like to welcome Han Zaunere to the list. Hans runs bootup, which puts startups in front of engineers and business professionals to create a forum for analyses, the technical pitches, and team-building. Visit www.bootup.io for details, and I believe it might be helpful for some of you on the list, so thought I’d mention it.

Good morning, all!

So, we have postings from as early as the first email blast, and it occurs to me that we get new members every week and of course posts are not archived on the website. Which does cut down on spam, but also means that those posts aren’t seen by new members, soooo –

This is what I propose, in the coming weeks: Read More...

The Bootstrapper Summit is today and good luck to the SOS list startups that are pitching! You’ve got my vote. All of you.

Unfortunately, I¹m not one of the judges.

Which I’m sure was not an oversight. Read More...

I need sleep. Or a clone.

First, I’d like to thank Murat Aktihanoglu (centrl.com) for inviting us to present Startup One Stop at his Entrepreneurs Roundtable Tuesday evening. We got a warm reception from both the entrepreneurs and investors in the room. Just the kinds of people we like to see on this list and I do not refer to
the royal “we”

Second that we lead into the queries now? Read More...

Hi, All, and yes, I know it doesn’t officially begin until 5.18 pm, so I hope we’re all enjoying those last few hours of summer – and Advertising Week in NY, in case you’ve forgotten.

Speaking of current and upcoming events, I’d also like to invite you to register for the Bootstrapper Summit III (BSS), which will take place on October 1st 2009 in midtown, NYC. BSS is the most intimate Venture Capital conference in NYC, connecting promising companies with the top investors. Attendees have over $5 Billion in investment capital available.

BSS III keynote speakers are Robin Kent, former CEO of Universal McCann, a $16 Billion Media Agency & Nate Brochin, who has had 3 successful exits, creating $4 Billion in shareholder value. Read More...
